HOW THE LOG IS BUILT

From source static to useful signal.

01

Listen

Every hour, the independent aggregator checks 8 Canadian club and marketplace sources for records it has not seen before.

02

Clear the noise

Wanted ads, expired records, events, discussions, source navigation and forum counters are removed before they reach the catalogue.

03

Identify the gear

New records are normalized into a concise manufacturer-and-model title, a consistent category and clean seller notes.

04

Keep the source

Every source record remains its own listing and links back to the original ad. Source listings remain through day 90, then leave the active log.

AI, WITH GUARDRAILS

Better catalogue data—not a different listing.

gpt-4o-mini normalizes new source records by identifying the manufacturer and model, standardizing casing, title and category, and cleaning source boilerplate.

Specifications never use an AI model. Manually curated MySQL entries take priority and are reused for every matching model; when none exist, the aggregator may extract exact-model values from approved manufacturer pages. Seller claims, condition and availability remain grounded in the original record.

WHAT NEVER CHANGES
Provenance first

Aggregated listings preserve their original source; member listings identify themselves clearly.

No wanted traffic

The exchange lists available gear, not requests to buy.

Price transparency

When a source does not publish a price, the catalogue says “Ask seller” instead of inventing one.
